pretty much the people I'm familiar with or watch regularly as someone who's been in the horror community for a LONG time. This has a variety of things and not all of them I watch often I just know them.

Be. Busta - creepy story narration and he's one of my favs (and unless I'm mistaken I think he works as dentist lol)

Brimstone Below - creepy story narrator he is no longer active (hope he's okay)

blameitonjorge - Very well known, he makes mostly lost media videos now but he also does lots of video essays of interesting topics

Bright Sun Films (Formerly Bright Sun Gaming) - Does videos of abandoned locations and the history of them, he also does Urbex.

Brittney Crabb (Formerly Brittney44) - Does urban legends stories seemingly focused on a more younger audience as her content is very energetic and silly. Sometimes she does ghost hunting.

Jessii Vee - Same as Brittney she does urban legends and is for a younger audience, but there are some interesting things on there.

Dark Exploration Films - Urbex youtuber who does many interesting locations of many types

Darkness Prevails  - Another creepy story narrator, he has a speech pattern that's very podcast persona.

AbandonedMines11 - As the name suggests he explores mines. If that's your thing here you are.

Exploring With Josh - Another Urbex youtuber and is very well known. Explores well known and random places and is very energetic.

GloomyHouse - Does stories and lists. Some of his stuff is very fake and a bit clickbait.

Goose Boose - Deserves SO MUCH MORE attention. He does videos of creepy media mostly.

HoodoHoodlumsRevenge - Doesn't post anymore but his videos are mostly comedy in some way and posts about creepypastas (also really likes Gorillaz)

Lazy Masquerade - Very well known narrator who also does list type videos. LEMMiNO - Does really nice video essays!! If you scroll to bottom you'll see what the channel used to be LMAO. He also has made some lovely music that I still listen to.

Night Mind - Does videos on exploring ARGs and other creepy media. I have one of his plushes.

oddheader - I'm counting him due to the mystery aspect. He does easter egg videos mostly

ScareTheater - Well known, does short videos on many dark things and is mentioned by other Youtubers on occasion. Rather light in tone.

Tats TopVideos - Her older videos are now gone but I still remember them, but she makes Top list videos with many other people that tend to be long (also rather comedic and several). Also SCP stuff.

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl Network - Not active any more really, but this was a channel created by an acting agency to make videos about a girl haunted by ghosts and learning she can help them, it's fictional of course but there is also books based on it (which I own and they stray a lot from the source but that's fine). There is also stuff on there from others.

Top5s - Another List channel, but these videos tend to feature things not often featured or talked about. I have been following this channel for as long as I can remember.

Top15s - I think we all already know this one. I'm counting this channel as it's mostly creepy things lol. With the return of Chills the style has changed and I think it's better now. Chills also stopped doing the deep voice

YourEverydayTheorist - Older stuff is silly theory videos but his newer stuff is mostly Iceberg videos.

Nick Crowley - To me some of his stuff can be rather disturbing

Moe Sargi - Now he's not for everyone as most of his videos are exaggerated and he's very loud but if you like Josh you may like him. He also was the one who made the 24 hour challenge videos first and I like his older stuff more. He also pumps out videos like crazy.

Night Time Spooks - Yet another horror narrator, but he's got the voice of just some guy.

Sakura Stardust - Does mostly Japanese horror content. Fortune - Does both real and fake stuff (as the header states blue = real and purple = fake. Most known for his Unexplained incidents videos.

ReignBot - Similar to Scare theater and is also well known and often mentioned.

Shrouded Hand - I don't really watch him but he's worth mentioning as he is also often mentioned by others

Mr. Nightmare - I accidently deleted his part OOPS. He's another narrator but a lot of his stuff got deleted by him.

Nexpo - I FORGOT HIM OOPS. He's probably the most well known of them. Makes long videos exploring many things.

ShaiiValley - Makes lots of lost media videos about topics that are unsolved and barely spoken of

Barely Sociable - Makes lots of mystery videos and covering a variety of topics. Great for both very long and dinner long content.

Sourcebrew - lost media lists

SomeOrdinaryGamers - does gaming videos and content on creepy things such as creepypastas. Does deep web and computer safety things too

Maverick Files - There is not a lot of videos on here but it's very promising and the quality is pretty great.

Pixels After Dark - The newer videos are better in my opinion but I spent a lot of time on this channel some nights ago while playing games lol

Sacrow - Does a lot of iceberg videos. If you have ever wanted to learn about older internet horror stuff it's a great channel to see lots.

Chilling Scares- Another multi theme true horror stories channel, kinda like Mr. Nightmare lol

Jessicur- Run of the mill horror channel that covers true crime and internet posts.

Since MXTX said HuaLian live until the modern times, have some random headcanons:

Hua Cheng keeps being an interior decorating king so of course his and Xie Lian's home is tastefully decorated for every season and holiday. However, that doesn't stop Xie Lian from occasionally adding the fugliest item ever because he got emotionally attached to it in the store. "It was all by itself, San Lang, nobody wanted it... i know what that feels like better than anyone..." and now they're both sniffling holding an ugly styrofoam pumpkin in the middle of the fall decor isle of Ikea.

The stray animals food budget is off the charts but it's nobody's fault all strays are immediately drawn to Xie Lian and he has to feed them cause he "knows what it's like to be hungry". This does not just include cats and dogs but also rats, raccoons, several bird species and at least one coyote.

Speaking of budgets, the financial control authorities are lowkey on Hua Cheng's case because he is still stinking rich but nobody knows where the cash is coming from. They think Ghost City is the name of some shady mafia establishment and are trying to find dirt on Hua Cheng but there is literally nothing there and it eats the government alive.

Xie Lian occasionally dumpster dives in places where he knows they throw perfectly salvageable things. Hua Cheng cries every time it happens but he stands watch so the police doesn't arrest his husband for it.

In the same vein, Xie Lian insists on recycling literally everything. They have those different colored trash bins and everything, and every time Hua Cheng places an item in the wrong bin, Xie Lian gives him a disapproving look that has the ghost king crumble.

They have so many house plants. It's like a little jungle in their living room but the air is so crisp.

They keep several scrapbooks of paintings, pictures, letters etc from all the people they met to remember them even hundreds or thousands of years after those people have passed away. Even if they now have access to phones and other media for storage, they keep up the tradition of using scrapbooks and notebooks anyway.

Xie Lian is actually up to date with memes and internet slang but has embraced being a cringe Facebook grandpa and is now committed to the persona. Hua Cheng finds this hilarious (he runs a very well maintained beauty channel and a side channel on swords where Xie Lian features in every video and geeks out about their sword collection. They have a golden button and a very large following).

Hua Cheng has a 25 step skincare routine and only uses the fanciest brands of products for literally everything. Xie Lian still swears by 8 in 1 shampoo and somehow has clearer skin. Hua Cheng is both enamored and scandalized about it.

Hua Cheng is a very big fan of acryllics and lets Xie Lian pick the base color every time. Xie Lian takes this task very, very seriously and tries to coordinate it with any activities/events they have planned so Hua Cheng stays being stylish.

Hua Cheng has a portable Dyson Airwrap with him at all times because one time a kid said his hair looks like a wet dog.

Xie Lian is not allowed to get a job because every time he tried to along the decades he became a cautionary tale somehow.

“morning everyone welcome back to my channel! today i’m finally going to be doing a day in the life after so many requests to do one!”

at fourteen you started a youtube channel just like all your other friends, making random slime videos and gymnastics tutorials with your cousins. which later turned into a channel with over four hundred thousand subscribers.

the gymnastics tutorials and slime videos long gone but now were replaced by vlogs, get ready with mes and q&as.

as of late the vlogs had some cameos of the blonde girl in the background but the two of you had never explicitly mentioned that you were dating.

the city stirred with the promise of a new day as y/n woke to the gentle rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains. beside her, aggie lay in peaceful slumber, her chest rising and falling in rhythm with each breath. y/n couldn't help but admire the beauty of her girlfriend, her heart swelling with affection.

the camera was already set up and ready to go catching the intimate women between the two lovers.

with a soft smile y/n leaned in to press a tender kiss to aggie’s forehead, eliciting a soft murmur of contentment from her lover. "good morning baby," y/n whispered, brushing a stray strand of hair from aggie’s face.

aggie stirred, her eyes fluttering open to meet y/n’s gaze, a warm smile spreading across her lips. today was special, not just because it was their nine month anniversary, but because they had both decided it was time to officially hard launch their relationship.

after breakfast prepared by y/n, the two set out for a morning stroll through the streets of london. y/n mindlessly spoke to the camera, capturing every moment of their walk, the way aggie's laughter echoed through the streets, the way their fingers intertwined as they walked, the way they stole glances at each other when they thought no one was looking.

after a quick pit stop at the farmers market the duo trudged back to their shared home carrying the heavy paper bags. their second stop of the day was aggie's football match, a london derby at stamford bridge, y/n had been eagerly anticipating for weeks. with her camera rolling, y/n cheered from the stands, her voice heard above the roar of the crowd as aggie showcased her skills.

with each goal chelsea scored, y/n’s pride swelled, her heart bursting with admiration for her talented girlfriend. and when the final whistle blew, signaling chelsea’s victory, y/n couldn't contain her excitement, rushing down to the barriers waiting for aggie so she could wrap aggie in a tight embrace, her camera capturing the raw emotion of the moment.

after the match, aggie and y/n retreated to their apartment, where they indulged in a homemade meal. as they sat across from each other at the table, their conversation flowed effortlessly, punctuated by laughter and shared memories. the moment was featured in the video with soft music over it.

with their hearts full, aggie and y/n settled in on the couch, snuggled up beneath a blanket as they watched their favorite movie. with y/n’s camera capturing their every shared glance and whispered conversation, they lost themselves in the comfort of each other's company, the outside world fading into the background.

as the night wore on and the credits rolled, aggie and y/n found themselves reluctant to leave the warmth of the couch. but eventually, exhaustion crept in, and they made their way to bed, where they curled up together beneath the covers, their bodies fitting together like two pieces of a puzzle.

quiet mumbles of goodbyes and thanks for watchings finished off the vlog as in the quiet stillness of the night, aggie and y/n found solace in each other's arms, their breathing syncing in perfect harmony.

SAGAU Idea Part 2: Electric Boogalo

SAGAU, but [Reverse] Isekai type beat

Can you imagine the Genshin Characters being thrown into the reader’s world instead of the other way around?

The chaos

The way I’m thinking of is more like.. some of the characters suddenly appear in the reader’s house world. Like they broke out of the game

Temporarily, ofc. At least initially

Since, while they’re in the reader’s world, that character(s) presence seems to disappear in the reader’s game.

Just— the reader vibing, watching some anime or smth, then Thoma just walks out of the closet confused as hell

“Hello there!” “WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE??”

Both parties confused as hell

Are they dreaming? Are they dead? What?? How??

Since this is SAGAU the character(s) that show up prob think they’re dead. Since they’re meeting their creator/overseer/the player and that shouldn’t be possible—

But… Funny slice of life opportunities? Where the reader has to house whatever character shows up until they leave

If the reader does want to help them figure out a way back or not…can vary

And the point in time the characters show up could vary as well!

Like, you can meet a Post-Sumeru Scara, Raiden Shogun before the Inazuma Quest, Signora before she goes all Crimson Witch, etc! At all can vary!

That also means the interactions can differ. Awkward, funny, angst, crack-fic-esque, angst, angst/comfort, you get the idea.

The amount of time a character is in the Reader’s world can also be insanely different. You’ve got Thoma there for less than a day, and then Razor’s there for a whole week. It’s wild

Not to mention if there’s more than one character that showed up—oh boy, that’s gonna be hectic to manage.

When the character(s) return home, it can be weird for the reader

But it’s probably weirder for the Reader if a character keeps coming back with all the memories of what happened before

So it’s not a dream or hallucination. Lovely.

If the Reader gets Isekai’d into Teyvat, they would get a very big welcome party. And a lot of people who would be willing to show them around, as you did help them while they were in your world.

But if the Genshin Cast get’s isekai’d into the Reader’s World?

Oh boy..

They’d have to teach everyone about the world.

Some of them have to work, because you can’t support such a large group without help.

Also have to explain to the cast just how popular Genshin Impact is, so they’re going to be seen as cosplayers if they don’t change up their identities and looks.

Ofc the cast has been aware they’ve been in a game, but this is…a lot to take him

And probably a big ego boost for some of the characters, since people seem to love them so much.

The cast have to realize that, divine or not, they’re all now on an even paying field.

Not to mention they can’t use their visions openly, lest more suspicions are made by the Reader’s Neighbors

Tbh, the entire cast could do a ‘group Cosplay’ channel where they’re all ‘cosplaying’ Genshin Character’s to do vlogs and possibly make some cast.

And use of their visions can be passed off as video effects

If they do that, the cast would probably be very popular in the Genshin community for being the Cosplay Icons.

Bonus points if you also have to explain the fandom shenanigans

“What’s a Scaranation? What the fuck?”

“Is there..a reason? Why all of the anemo boys care being called an idol group..?”

“[Reader], what is a ‘simp?’ And why are there so many of them?”

Extra bonus points if whenever a new character enters the Genshin story they show up at the Reader’s house as well.

You’ll need one big ass house to keep all the Genshin Characters under one roof. Rip to the wallet.

Now, imagine the crossover potential in SAGAU

Reader is from the Bungo Stray Dogs Universe, Port Mafia Executive. Cool right?

Not cool when characters from the Reader’s favorite game (Genshin) start materializing in the real world.

Try explaining that to the rest of the PM executives. Good lord.

Random opinion but I think Scara would love Q to death.

Meanwhile the Armed Detective Agency is investigating the strange case of ability users, that look like characters from a video game, are appearing in the city.

Oh! Or a Twisted Wonderland Crossover type beat! People that the Reader knows, who many assume are also from their world, started appearing and now Night Raven College needs a new dorm to house all of them.

For these crossovers, imagine if the worlds were actually merging. Or well— mixing in some ways

People are getting visions, slimes are causing havoc, teleport waypoints are appearing along with the statues of the seven

And the only way to revert it would be to send the Genshin Cast back.

How would they react? Would there be a permanent gateway established, or would it be a one way thing? Would the Reader choose to stay in Teyvat with them?

Oh but someone would totally say “Hell no” and start trying to prevent any progress of sending them back.

I though it’d be fun to create a “fashion collection” based off of bungo stray dogs— specifically based on Ranpo and Poe’s murder mystery books!

(Fashion collections actually need at least 12 pieces, but I gave up on the other 2 I had planned, so I ended up with just 10 pieces)

This was originally made bc I had an idea of Chuuya being a fashion designer. He obviously cares a lot abt his looks and clothes, so how fun would it be if he created them! I imagine he is kind of like a ghost-writer, but with fashion, since he’s still part of the mafia and people might not exactly like the idea of promoting collections that are obviously affiliated with crime ( as if a majority of the fashion industry isn’t based on horrible work conditions, killing our planet and all that jazz). He creates his looks by hand when he has time, and submits them to underground (not illegal, just think of it as a fashion show created by the common people, for the common people. It takes place at night and is made into a whole spectacle, with everyone dressing up and even having fashion related workshops and such. The reason it’s “underground” is because not many people know abt it, the only reason you’d know is if someone you know knows abt it, if that makes sense). He’s a well known and respected fashion designer in the underground fashion scene, even if no one knows his face.

I think Chuuya would use fashion and art as a way to channel his anger and emotions, but also it gives him something to focus on, instead of his overwhelming emotions. This leads to a lot of works that resemble violence and more sad/angry visuals. His most well known collections are the ones he made after Dazai left the PM (he made 2: one dedicated to his car blowing up, and another to all the ways Chuuya wanted to kill Dazai) and the one he made based around his feelings about corruption, as well as himself through his power.

Anyway, this “collection” is based off of Chuuya’s time trapped in Poe’s book.

The Role of Modern Technology in My Life

I could only imagine myself getting by my day-to-day life with technology. In fact, most of my talent and identity are poured into whatever I make on a computer. It may sound like an exaggeration, but part of me believes this is true. Since I was little, I remember having this curiosity about what I could do with the screen in front of me. As a result of years of discovery, these amateur questions of mine turned into a craft not a lot of people can replicate. To give you an example, I want to introduce you to the world of Blender art. 

Blender is a software that specializes in making 3D art. Specifically, it is responsible for modeling 3D meshes, sculpting hard surface models, UV editing different types of topologies, and many more under the 3D workflow apart from making dynamic content like video games. Compared to other forms of art, digital 3D art is a medium that strives to apply complex mathematical equations and understand computer diction that may sound like random noise to common folk. Talent in this craft relies less on skill and more on an individual’s knowledge and patience in absorbing information. It is boring sitting through so many tutorials and reading populated pages in the blender manual, but as a result, we get pictures like the one I made below for my YouTube channel, TheVanillaLog. A collection of artwork made by me in this medium can also be found in this so-called channel, and it has given me an anonymous persona on the internet that people would follow to watch Blender tutorials that involve a toon shader style. Not a lot of people showcase this “2.5D” aesthetic on the internet, so my content covers this niche demand that is only growing much larger as films like “Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse” get more mainstream attention.

In addition to this being a hobby of mine, 3D art has actually been helpful in making some of my presentations in school. If ever I want to insert a cool graphic in a slide, I would make a quick render in Blender using the Cycles engine. Compared to traditional forms of art, it still takes a lot of time and effort. However, it is all worth it just to impress my professor for that class. I even get requests to make something in 3D up to this day from my old teachers no matter how impossible it may be to sculpt it in a 3D medium.

3D art has also been the gateway for me to understand a special field in dentistry known as CAD-CAM. In contrast to traditional practices in medicine, Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) involves the use of 3D software, printers, and technology in making common dental products like casts, dentures, and bridges. I studied this under the supervision of my dad who is a dentist himself, and his help was the reason why I feel that I am ahead of some of my classmates in terms of expertise. This is not being taught by my teachers at university, so it always comes as no surprise when a professor suddenly comes up to me and asks about how common dental software like Blue Sky Bio works. The picture below is a cast I printed in Blender with my name on it. It was a very simple print, but people were impressed with the result, let alone that it came from someone who is my age and has not yet graduated from college.

To summarize, I do not think that I would have the connections and the skill that I have today if it was not for the advent of modern technology. The older generation would be quick to dismiss computers and say that it is rotting the youth, but a part of me thinks that this is going to be the new normal. Just like how normal it is to drive cars to work instead of using horses, computers have become a staple item in people’s households. Its presence does not echo a future to come as much as its absence shouts a sign of someone who is behind the times. We have evolved into something that strays away from past norms, and whether we like it or not, this change is here to stay for a very long time.

I really would rather be anywhere else. But anyway. Hello there wider Tumblr community! I'm Pineapple. (And you're watching Disney Channel)

And as you can already guess, I'm Ant. Currently we are stuck in a Christmas party and we've found some sanctuary in a corner. Pineapple happens to be looking very traumatized at the moment and the Wi-Fi isn't loading for us to watch Given so here we are.

They're not even playing Christmas music. It's blasphemy and if it ends up being like the summer party I'm probably going to have another panic attack in the music room bathroom. We've been procrastinating creating this introductory post for like a week or two now and figured now is as good a time as any to do so.

Ant and I became friends earlier this year, when I lost someone I loved after first losing myself. We became friends through ✨trauma bonding✨. She's now pretending to be drunk off of soda. She'll be back in a minute.

We became best friends when our respective friend groups abandoned us both. Painful, but ultimately it led to something better.

WE GOT ICE CREAMMMM. Anyways, while Pineapple goes to get us some spoons I guess I'll take over (the world). Where should I start?

I suppose I could tell you about our nicknames Pineapple and Ant but where's the fun in revealing that. Instead, I'll tell you random bits of information about us.

So if you know what an MBTI is, I'm an INFJ and Pineapple is INTP. We're both dark academia fanatics with a love for literature and history. Pineapple is a musician, she plays many instruments and I'm a dancer who plays the violin. Currently, I'm being converted to Pineapple's anime cult but I have yet to turn her into a STAY (Stray Kids everywhere all around the world!). Pineapple has also taken to shaking her head at me because of that last sentence but it's fine because she loves me. YOU GUYS PINEAPPLE STARTED SINGING ALONG

To be quite honest, I have no idea what this will contain. It'll probably have a range of things but I hope anyone who find this can see a bit of themselves in these posts but I guess that's all for me.

It's not a CULT. Anyway. The plan for this account is to remain as utterly anonymous as possible. If you figure out anything about us, feel free to ask. I won't guarantee an honest answer, but you can try.

Meet The Tiny Artist! 🖤🧷

Hi there! I made this lil illustration + Q&A for my Pinned Post so y'all can get to know me better! 🖤 (The rest of the Q&A is below the cut!)

So, who exactly am I?

I'm Rayna (but you can call me Ray), I'm 24, a complete British + Bisexual Stereotype, and my pronouns are She/They. Oh, I'm a Borrower too so I'm around 4" tall! ^w^

Why did I make this blog?

I created this blog in 2017 shortly after discovering the G/T* community! I've always loved the idea of being tiny (I remember having quite a few dreams/daydreams when I was a kid about my favourite characters being giants) so I was very happy to discover that there's actually a whole community dedicated to this pretty niche/weird love of mine! :D

*G/T stands for Giant/Tiny and it’s essentially about extreme size-differences! It can range from Giants interacting with Humans to Humans interacting with Borrowers/Fairies/etc. (also referred to as Tinies) and there are so many creative ways to explore these dynamics.

People also tend to identify as giants, tinies or size-shifters- I personally prefer being the tiny (around 3-4" tall) in any scenario but that’s just my preference. ^^

What do I post?

Obviously this blog is predominantly dedicated to G/T, but here’s a quick overview of what I post/draw/write the most:

G/T Fluff! This blog is mainly about cute moments between Giants and Tinies because I absolutely adore stuff like that. Handheld fluff is my absolute favourite, as one of the most comforting things I can imagine is being held by a giant and feeling really protected and loved. (That’s one of the main reasons behind why I love it so much, I tend to get really stressed/anxious a lot of the time and I find a lot of comfort in how calm and happy G/T makes me feel)

You can also expect to see a LOT of G/T memes and puns!

I also draw a lot of G/T Art (and occassionally write short stories too), I've drawn it for various fandoms but I do like creating original work too. A lot of my more recent work is G/T Art involving my partner too because they're an adorable Giant and I love them >w<

wot reread: crossroads of twilight (prologue - chap 9)

spoilers through... mostly crossroads of twilight (I have to admit that my brain is not certain where CoT ends and KoD begins; they kinda blur together).

wish me luck.

1. The opening quotation literally sounds like Jordan is saying to us all: Slog Time is in full swing! “The right hand falters and the left hand strays”. No, this is the tenth book in the series why are you doing this to me. That being said... I guess I will say that Perrin is the hand that falters and Mat is the hand that strays, even though it should be the other way around because Mat was absolutely Rand’s right-hand man.

2. So, imo, one of the main issues that happened during the Slog was that Jordan started these new subplots back in LoC/ACoS and then... lost sight of what the narrative PURPOSE of the subplots were supposed to be and started just writing them for their own sake, as if they were the main plots. Perrin’s ‘kidnapped wife’ subplot straight-up shouldn’t have happened at all but, if it did, it should have been wrapped up in a single book. What his actual plot should have been about was the tension of killing or not killing Masema, which is a question that actually goes to the heart of Perrin’s characterization and his place as one of Rand’s childhood friends!

Is it okay to kill a dangerous man who isn’t a threat to you personally but has caused enormous destruction in his wake? Very relevant question, because lots of people want to kill or control RAND because he’s a dangerous man who brings destruction in his wake. The only Perrin pages that I will consider relevant are the ones dealing with this issue, thanks! Everything else can (and should, in the TV series) be tossed away.

3. Mat’s subplot losing its way is actually worse, because Winter’s Heart gave us some strong narrative promises about him and left him off on a relatively exciting note... and then we immediately slow everything down in this book when his plot would have been much better served by a quick pace, focusing on the elements that Winter’s Heart told us would matter: Seanchan characters questioning their empire, the issue of the sul’dam, and the future slaver empress being a woman who is capable of channeling but being destined to marry a man who (last book) despises slavery and is wary of women who can channel, literally her two main things. In Mat’s storyline, I’m also going to be keeping an eye on characterization reversals from previous books.

4. We basically skipped Egwene last book, so this should now be the book where she does the siege of Tar Valon; this is also the book where Elayne is going to defend Caemlyn against a mysterious army. Those are the two things that the narrative told us last book would happen. I feel like Elayne probably holds up her end of the narrative deal; she usually does. But we’ll see! CoT & KoD really merge together in my brain and I’m not certain what happens in which of the books. But both Elayne and Egwene have kept their eyes on the prize so far -- Elayne on securing rulership of Andor and Egwene on securing rulership of the Aes Sedai, both tasks that need to be accomplished for the Last Battle, so honestly they both get gold stars simply because they haven’t gotten distracted away from the main plot of this story: defeating the Dark One at the Last Battle.

5. We don’t know what Rand and Nynaeve’s plans are for after the cleansing, only that they were both really tired and Cadsuane was being creepy and possessive of Rand at the end of Winter’s Heart. Their storyline moved ahead of everyone else’s at the end of the last book, so we will also see everyone else catch up to them in this book, probably.

6. And now we dive into the prologue. This is the other place where the Slog comes into play: too many random PoVs. Some of these are worthwhile and some of them just felt kinda pointless. Though, ironically, all of them are probably better (and much more succinct) than Mat and Perrin’s plotlines in this book, lol, which I’m basically tossing in the bin.

7. Rodel Ituralde has received his letter from his King via “Lady Tuva” which is actually from Graendal. What happens: he’s waiting. We do learn some info about how he is trying to hold Arad Doman together by the skin of his teeth. It’s been “less than a month” since the weather changed. We learn that he’s been getting odd orders from the King (who is in hiding) for months. How many of those orders were actually from Graendal, I wonder. Yeah, it sounds like pretty much all the orders were from Graendal, as Ituralde thinks with despair, “the orders the King sent could not have been better written to achieve chaos”. This is the fruits of Graendal’s labor during the LoC-WH era.

8. Ituralde has taken the letter as an opportunity to meet under a flag of peace (the “White Ribbon”) with Lord Shimron, who used to be one of the King’s advisors but turned Dragonsworn and sits high among the Dragonsworn in Arad Doman (and the Dragonsworn rule by council, which is interesting). He wants to set against his differences with the Dragonsworn to unite against the Seanchan invaders. Oh goodness, yes. I absolutely approve. Please unite against the Seanchan. Would love for Arad Doman to be a bulwark against them going any further to the north, just as Rand is holding Illian to stop them going any further east. Ah, the exact words of the letter are to ‘gather as many men as he can and strike against the Seanchan’. I am assuming Graendal did NOT think he would consider offering truce to the Dragonsworn and was just hoping to feed the Arad Domani army into a meatgrinder. The Dragonsworn here are both Arad Domani and Taraboner and the ones from Tarabon are VERY unhappy about the puppet King and Panarch that the Seanchan have placed on the throne in their home country. This is a good section. Worth all 15 pages. I also really appreciated us getting a chance to see Dragonsworn (who aren’t under Rand’s direct control) who also aren’t cultists like Masema’s people or using it as an excuse to be bandits. Lord Shimron and the people with him are shown to be very principled; they’ve just decided that following the Dragon is a higher calling than following their King.

9. Valda PoV and catching up with the Whitecloaks. This is literally just reminding us of things we already know about Valda and the Whitecloaks. Unnecessary. 5 pages we didn’t need. He’s bitter about the Seanchan taking the Fortress of Light - yeah, duh, of course he is. I just kinda assumed that.

10. And we’re with Gabrelle and the Black Tower now. We don’t learn anything particularly new. Taim and Logain are still at opposite sides of the Black Tower conflict. Only two weeks have passed in this storyline since we last checked in with Toveine. We could have covered this in maybe 3 pages, for the new info about Logain going recruiting.

11. Yukiri in the White Tower. The rumors are all worrying Yukiri, one of the Sisters in the White Tower, especially the ones about Rand vanishing (she wonders if Elaida’s proclamation is to blame). Anyway, Yukiri is one of the Sitters who was drawn into the Black Ajah Hunters plotline, so I’m inclined to like her part. She’s working now with one of the Gray sisters who was sent back to the Tower to spread the rumors about the Reds having raising up Logain as a False Dragon. Things have gotten even worse in the Tower, with sisters not leaving their Ajah quarters alone and always wearing their shawls. They have three names of other Black Ajah sisters from Talene: Atuan (Yellow Ajah), Galina (Red Ajah; in charge of Rand’s kidnapping and now a slave to the Shaido), and Temaile (Gray; left the Tower with Liandrin’s bunch,  currently in Caemlyn). Of them, only Atuan is in the Tower still. In order to figure out why everything Elaida knows is also known by the Black Ajah, Yukiri asks the sister to renew her old (30 years ago) friendship with Elaida. We also learn that Alviarin abruptly left the Tower yesterday. Most of this section is good and useful; I would take out the scene about the “weird Sitters” mystery.

12. Gawyn with the Sisters in the village outside Tar Valon. Gawyn is aware that standing aside the way he did and letting Rand be hurt is something that Egwene would need to ‘forgive’. Gawyn thinks about how he should have gone home (to Caemlyn) once he returned to Tar Valon and found all his Younglings expelled from the city proper. Yes, that would have been a good idea. Your loyalty is supposed to be to Caemlyn and your sister, and you know that wherever Elayne is and whatever she’s doing, she is NOT in the Tower and neither is Egwene. In fact, your most recent news for BOTH of them is that they’re loyal to Rand (since Gawyn doesn’t about Amyrlin Egwene yet). Yet he tells himself that MAYBE Elayne IS in the White Tower and arrived while he was gone, despite there being absolutely no reason for him to think that. Ah, the rebel army has arrived at the threshold of Tar Valon, we learn. And Gawyn straight-up learns from one of the newly arrived Tower Red sisters that Elayne is on the same side as the rebels and yet... stays to hear Elaida’s orders for him instead . I need @markantonys here to explain to me what goes on inside this man’s head. Because he believes that he must be loyal to the White Tower for Elayne and Egwene’s sake even though he now knows Elayne is ‘with the rebels’ and was last aware that Egwene was with Rand (or I think she left him a letter, so he probably knows she had a ~mysterious task~ but she was definitely on Rand’s side so)... I just don’t understand how this leads to “obey Elaida’s orders”? Is it decision paralysis? He can’t make a choice so he just defaults to the thing that’s in front of his face?

13. Bashere outside Caemlyn with the Legion of the Dragon. He’s studying the newly-erected camps of that army that Elayne was warned about last book -- he can spot soldiers who belong to both of the two main rival claimants to the throne of Andor, Neaen and Elenia but, more intriguingly, the banner being flown near the banner of Andor is one for a lady named Arymilla, who wasn’t considered a serious claimant. Oh! The spy-glass that he’s using was a gift from Rand. That’s sweet. I actually do think Bashere makes for a good general for Rand, but he was also good as a co-general with Mat, from what we saw of the Sammael plan, so I do really mourn that he basically ended up being Mat’s replacement*. But as an individual character and for what he brings to the story, I appreciate him a lot. But, anyway, Caemlyn has been surrounded by this army, with all the main roads out of the city covered. It’s actually an interesting narrative reversal of what we should find in Egwene’s story, once we get there! Elayne is being besieged and Egwene is besieging.

* technically, Mat is replaced by the combination of Bashere + Min, I would say. Bashere for the general expertise and being a “man Rand would trust with his life” and Min for being the person who is there for Rand emotionally (and to carry a lot of knives on their person). Though as my reread has shown to me, Min is TERRIBLE at this job, with all her secrets from Rand and spilling Rand’s secrets to other people and her ominous visions of the future. Hilariously, Mat - who has an undeserved (at this point in the story) fandom reputation for having ‘abandoned’ Rand - was much better at being a friend, a confidant, and a comfort to him than Min has been shown to be. Maybe because he wasn’t just pretending to be Rand’s friend in order to try to angle his way into Rand’s bed. Maybe because Rand understood Mat well enough from their years of friendship that he rarely took Mat’s outer shell as seriously as most of the other characters do. Probably some of both. But Mat actually kept Rand’s secrets for him, provided comfort in the way that Rand told us he preferred at the time (sit quietly next to him as he processes and let him work through it), and, though he grumbled and complained, he always did his best to be there when the chips were down.

14. Bael is annoyed that the Legion of the Dragon and the Aiel forces are just being straight-up ignored by this army, and Bashere reminds him that Elayne doesn’t want them to interfere, which means Rand doesn’t want them to interfere. Which means that the heads of Rand’s armies here both know that he has feelings for Elayne. I kinda assume they must also know that he’s sleeping with Min but they don’t reference her at all, so I wonder if Min being openly Rand’s mistress is just straight-up a Cairhien-only affair and none of his people in Caemlyn know about it. And the Wise Ones, of course, know about Aviendha/Rand/Elayne due to the first-sister ceremony, given that Aviendha and Elayne openly talked about their feelings for Rand in the ceremony. Again, Min is left out of the matter here so... hmm. Let me double-check something in Winter’s Heart. Yeah, they don’t mention Min in their first-sister ceremony when talking about Rand. It really does feel like there are two entirely separate sets of relationships here: Rand/Elayne/Aviendha and Rand/Min.

15. Bashere thinks about how this sort of civil war, even a bloodless version, wouldn’t be possible in Saldaea, due to the Blight always being over their shoulder. Better a tyrant than civil war, is the way that thinking runs in Saldaea, because the country has to stay united in order to fend off Shadowspawn and the Blight to their north. We have seen inklings of this kind of thought appearing earlier in this prologue, with Ituralde reaching out to the Dragonsworn because the danger of the Seanchan is so great. Better unite with Dragonsworn, even if that costs his king his crown, than allow their country to be taken by the Seanchan.

16. Bashere comes back to his tent to learn that his wife, Deira, has just survived an attack. He notes that they’re considered odd among Saldaeans because they rarely shout at each other. Then why does Faile... moving on. Anyway, they tease each other a lot, mostly, and talk lightly of serious matters. But, yes, an assassination attempt on Bashere’s wife. Then he, mysteriously, tells Tumad to go to the “man who came to me yesterday” and tell him that Bashere agrees to whatever it was that he’d asked. Clearly something related to why someone tried to kill Deira. This is also a good section of the prologue.

17. Before I even read this next section, I am going to say that 30 pages given to one of Cadsuane’s companions is just TOO MANY. This is too many pages of a side character’s PoV! Anyway, Cadsuane “left a week ago” so Rand is currently still in Far Madding during this section of the prologue. Samitsu’s purpose in Cairhien is to keep an eye on the politics. Nothing in this is relevant at all until Loial and Karldin show up: we know that Dobraine is keeping an eye on Cairhien for Rand. I don’t care what Cadsuane’s flunky thinks about the situation. Dobraine is literally doing exactly the job that Rand set for him -- running the city and making sure that there’s enough support for Elayne that her claim should settle into place easily once she makes it. I approve of Rand choosing Stewards for the cities under his rule but this one should have been Berelain. She was doing a GOOD JOB and she got kicked out because Rand started to feel too much lust for her now that he had an on-site girlfriend, so he demoted and dismissed a good proxy ruler for being too pretty and replaced her with a man. I will never not be mad about this plot/character development. #BerelainDeservedBetter

18. Okay, Loial comes back into the story, along with Karldin. They went off to let the steddings know that the Dragon Reborn wanted all the Waygates possible to be sealed, because the Shadow is using them to move troops. The PoV character is still Samitsu, but one of Rand’s oathsworn Aes Sedai is also here to talk to them, Sashalle, who is Red Ajah and was one of the three sisters stilled by Rand at Dumai’s Wells and then healed by Damar Flinn. Sashalle sounds like a true believer in Rand now (potentially helped along by Verin’s Compulsion).

19. Loial and Karldin are looking for Rand, of course, and worrying over the tales about what happened to the Sun Palace. They’re able to get some reassurance from Samitsu and Sashalle on that regard -- Rand has left but he is not the one who destroyed the palace. We then find out from the servants that Lord Dobraine was murdered. The group of four investigates. He’s almost dead but there is a faint flicker of life, Normal Aes Sedai healing would kill him from the shock of it. She is able to heal him enough to close the worst of the wounds without the shock of healling killing him, but he will need to heal the rest of it the normal way. It looks like the people who tried to kill Dobraine were planning to steal something that he was keeping (probably for Rand?) and might have successfully stolen it, as Loial and Karldin wonder if there were more than two attackers (there are two bodies). We end on the news that a group of Sisters and Asha’man have entered the city, led by Logain.

It does sound like every single PoV in the prologue has been pre-cleansing. Honestly, most of these PoVs were pretty useful, though a couple seemed pointless and several could have been shorter. Maybe the prologues in The Slog got a bad rap and it’s really all Mat and Perrin dragging everything down.

20. Now we enter the book proper and we are in Mat’s PoV. As a reminder, these characters were established as strongly ANTI-SLAVERY/Anti-Seanchan in Winter’s Heart:

Mat (one of his main pieces of characterization in WH)

Setalle Anan (one of her only pieces of characterization in WH)

Juilin (mostly for the sake of his ladylove)

Noal (believes slavery is worse than death)

Teslyn, Joline & Edesina (for obvious reasons)

Thom (helps Beslan plot rebellion against the Seanchan)

Beslan (despises the Seanchan for invading his city). he’s not present but he’s also not dead, so I’m including him

And we have Selucia, who is a slave. Because Tuon was allowed to bring her slave along with her, which was our first hint on-page that the narrative planned to pull its punches with Tuon, back in WH. Why would you bring her slave along with her? Literally only to coddle her. Why are we coddling the slaver? The narrative doesn’t get into it enough in Winter’s Heart for it to stand out what a bizarre choice it is for Mat to give Tuon the indulgence of bringing along her slave during her kidnapping when he’s actively helping freed slaves escape at that very moment, but it really stands out once we get into Crossroads of Twilight.

Characters who didn’t express strong feelings about slavery in WH:

Olver (only cared about boobs the entire book; did not appear to have noticed that Ebou Dar was ever invaded at all)

Mat’s remaining Band members (mostly just yes-men at this point, sadly)

21. I am not going to go over the majority of Mat’s chapters, since this is a pointless side-quest, but I am keeping tracking of certain items -- every time Tuon refuses to use Mat’s name, every time she acts like a spoiled brat, every time she reminds us that she’s a slaver, and every time one of the actual good things from Winter’s Heart (or previous books) is undermined or reversed. Apart from that, things of note in the first four chapters:

It’s been six days since the night of the escape.

Mat has been thinking a lot about just taking a horse and riding away from the circus as quickly as he can manage it.

He’s depressed about how many Atha’an Miere were killed or recaptured by the Seanchan.

“Oh no one has cut off slaves’ feet for hundreds of years... well, not many people currently cut off their slaves’ feet and we frown at them for doing it. We don’t punish them but we kinda frown.” (paraphrased)

No alarm was raised for Tuon’s disappearance.

Mat still doesn’t want to be married.

Why didn’t Mat and ALUDRA pretend to be lovers instead of Mat and Egeanin? I guess Aludra was already with the circus but still. Didn’t... didn’t the circus see him coming to visit her before? Hadn’t he ALREADY made an arrangement with Luca?

Olver shows a single vague hint of concern that the Seanchan might catch them, so he is aware that they are not on the same side as the Seanchan, at least.

Utterly UTTERLY bizarre that Mat thinks of Selucia as a ‘lady’s maid’ when he knows damn well that she’s a slave. I guess we’re supposed to assume that he’s in denial that his future wife is a slave-owner who actively has a slave with her right now? But if that’s the case, then the narrative needs to have him confront that denial at some point.

Tylin is dead! 💖 It was a horrible and painful death! 💖💖 Best thing that’s happened in this book so far. I’m glad she was an exception to Jordan’s Can’t Kill A Woman thing.

Why does the book act like Joline hasn’t had a collar on her? She had to be collared in order to escape the city; this fact was repeated earlier in Mat’s recap. Sure, it wasn’t the same, since she knew (well, ‘knew’) that she would be let out again, but she HAS been collared and linked to a sul’dam. iirc, I remember that Nynaeve wanted to sick up the second she put on the bracelet on and wouldn’t let Elayne wear the collar even as part of a plan, even as a fake, back in TGH.

...does Mat not know about the sul’dam secret? It kinda seems like he doesn’t. Rand didn’t seem to know it back in TPoD either. The Wondergirls have known since book TWO, this should be common knowledge among all their allies! Lack of communication kills! I love the Wondergirls but they really only are good at communicating with each other and don’t tell anyone else shit.

Ah, we get fixed in time again: Joline wanted to talk to him because they can feel immense amounts of the Power at work and they’re certain it’s the Forsaken: the cleansing is happening. Mat isn’t worried though because after she mentions it, he gets a vision of Rand (and Nynaeve, but Mat only picks up on the fact that it’s Rand and the other person is just the figure of a woman) and he wonders if maybe it was RAND who made the dice stop this time, not Tuon. He doesn’t say anything to them about it being Rand tho.

I don’t care about Tuon’s sob story. We heard her backstory in Winter’s Heart and that was fine, but now I only care about the person she currently is, not the child that she was once upon a time. Every one of the damane was also just a little girl, once upon a time, but none of them get a chapter expounding on their backstories and trying to get us to see them as ~innocent little girls~. I think Alivia got, like, two sentences.

22. And we’re back with Perrin’s subplot that shouldn’t exist because the Shaido should not still be a problem. Five chapters. Things of note:

We start with Perrin dreaming of being a wolf. I do like when we get wolf-related things. Sadly, the wolves are of no use to Perrin when he’s awake. why is perrin trapped in a subplot where his wolf-friends are useless? (why is mat stuck in a subplot where he has the shittiest luck in the world?)

Perrin thinks about how he is absolutely willing to abandon Rand and the Last Battle if it comes now, because he has a greater duty. Oh, I guess he IS the left hand who strays after all, making Mat the right hand who falters. That kinda makes sense, since Mat has just been chilling in the circus next to the city and not ACTUALLY escaping despite that being his entire goal last book.

Faile has been gone for 22 days.

Perrin has finally figured out that Masema is trying to avoid returning to Rand for as long as possible.

Perrin finds the tracks of a pack of Darkhounds and follows it until he detemines that it went off hunting in another direction.

Berelain discreetly gives Perrin proof that Masema is dealing directly with the Seanchan -- High Lady Suroth (Darkfriend).

Why doesn’t Perrin immediately take this to Rand, showing him that there’s no point in trying to take in Masema under his wing? He doesn’t even have to break off his search, just let one of the Asha’man go. But that would require thinking about something other than Faile, so it’s out, of course.

The Shaido have taken an entire TOWN. Ridiculous. They shouldn’t even still be around. Ten thousand Shaido? Ridiculous.

Berelain mentioned that Neald or Grady could fetch more jewels from Mayene for them to sell to potentially buy back their people from the Shaido. Or. Here’s a thought. Have them try to find out where Rand is? Like, they wouldn’t actually be able to find him right now given where we are in the story but they should at least TRY. And if they tried and failed, at least that would be an excuse for this plotline to continue.

We find out that Darkhounds can eat wolves’ souls. That’s creepy. I’d like more wolf-lore and less... any of the rest of this.

Elyas was there during the Blood Snow, apparently. I assume as a Warder?

While Perrin is studying the town where Faile is being held captive, he has a whirlwind of colors in his head and he doesn’t just see Rand but also Nynaeve. It’s not about Faile so he forces himself not to think about it. He does let the people with him know that the big surge of saidin & saidar was Rand.

note: I think both Mat and Perrin made the right call here when it comes to whether or not they talk about this being Rand’s work -- Mat is among near-strangers; he shouldn’t tell them that Rand is doing something important; Perrin is among Rand’s allies; reassuring them is a good thing. But Mat also knows how to keep his mouth shut, so there’s that, too.

New things I’m keeping track of for this book! Now, Tuon is only in Chapter 3 of Mat’s section here, a total of 14 pages.

Tuon refuses to use Mat’s name, calling him ‘Toy’ instead:

Something from Winter’s Heart (or previous) is undermined (I’m kinda using this section to rant about the things that are pissing me off; so skip if it doesn’t appeal):

last book, Noal was very anti-slavery and said it was a fate worse than death. This book, he tells Egeanin that he’s sure her slave misses her too (and Mat thinks he sounds sincere), and that he’s seen worse in his life than damane and da’covale.

most of the Windfinders that Mat helped free were killed or recaptured

previously anti-slavery & anti-Seanchan Setalle Anan is buddying up with a slaver and helping her throw pottery at Mat and being AMUSED at Mat getting a temper tantrum thrown at him by a slaver who has invaded her home and whose forces she is currently attempting to escape. She’s acting like she needs to protect Tuon from Mat, because she apparently has forgotten everything that happened LAST WEEK. Why is Anan coddling Tuon like she’s another one of Tuon’s slaves?

instead of having sympathy for the Aes Sedai, like he did last book (which was a week ago!), Mat is now forcing them to share a wagon with the sul’dam to “keep them out of his hair”. He is forcing women who were SLAVES to share a wagon with former SLAVE KEEPERS.  Teslyn is being forced to share a wagon with the woman who ordered her punishments & trainings redoubled in an attempt to crush her spirit! WTF! (That’s Bethamin btw)

The vast majority of the progress that Egeanin had made seems to have vanished, unfortunately. Tuon’s very existence made her remember that she’s Seanchan to the bones, I suppose. Shame. Does she find her backbone again later on? I hope so. She was already kinda on thin ice for me in Winter’s Heart, tbh, finding out that she gave up something dangerous to Rand to the Seanchan (and someone that the readers know is a Darkfriend) in order to save her own skin. Egeanin may vaguely believe the damane are people now but the only person she really cares about at this point is Egeanin, it feels like.

The Mat-Tylin ‘romance’ gets buffed up in retrospect after we find out that she’s dead. It’s honestly (and unfortunately) easy to see why someone reading Mat’s storyline with a casual eye (especially a privileged man who isn’t as aware of how rape trauma can present) would come out of CoT thinking “oh yeah, Mat genuinely liked Tylin and clearly everything in ACoS & WH was just a sexy game” because that is how the narrative is currently treating that storyline. There’s a single line that alludes to the true horror that we saw in their relationship (Mat thinking about how he’d wanted to get away from her) but the rest is forcing us to watch Mat mourn her and feel guilty about ‘getting’ her killed and Tuon praising Mat for his loyalty to his rapist (while also trying to encourage him to move on and transfer his loyalty to her).

Mat briefly considers allowing the sul’dam to abuse the Aes Sedai because he’s finding them annoying right now.

The three sul’dam themselves also seem profoundly worse as characters this book than in Winter’s Heart -- very certain of their superiority to the Aes Sedai who are marath’damane and not a hint of the concern and worry and doubt that we saw last book about the fact that they are all capable of being held by the a’dam themselves. Maybe that’s because this is all from Mat’s PoV but, again, that’s on Jordan for deciding to craft his narrative in a way that prioritizes the slavers over everyone else. Last book, whenever we went into the Seanchan PoV, it highlighted the dysfunction in the empire, but this book... we get a whole fawning chapter about how Tuon's horrible personality and pro-slavery attitude is forgivable because she was a tragic little girl once upon a time. Again, I ask, what on earth happened to Jordan in between writing Winter’s Heart and Crossroads of Twilight that made him abandon was seemed a very clear and obvious plot-thread set-up about questioning the empire and instead meander onto... this mess of a plotline?

Mat also seems less insightful in this book so far? In Winter’s Heart, he figured out on his own that the Return was a settler invasion that would be much more difficult to dislodge than a normal invasion, but here he has to have Egeanin explain it to him all over again like he’s a child. Why not just have Mat think about it in his internal narration? Honestly, I kinda feel like most of the things people hate about Sanderson’s Mat are already beginning to be on display with Jordan’s CoT Mat. Qualities it feels like Mat somehow lost between WH & CoT: insightfulness, empathy, independence. And he’s also definitely continuing to get more sexist as well. It’s been a week.

This is Seungmin!

His full name is Kim Seungmin and he was born in South Korea on September 22, 2000. When he was a kid, he spent a couple months in the U.S. and is moderately fluent in English, arguably probably on pretty much the same level as Han.

Seungmin is part of Vocalracha, a sub-unit within the group, and is mainly just a vocalist and an extremely skilled one at that, but he’s also pretty good at dancing and isn’t even that bad of a rapper (although it’s not something he’s ever officially done, that I can tell, just as jokes or as a replacement, etc)

Songs I personally love him in: His cover of ‘Love Poem’ that he did with the Mayfly Unit on Kingdom (my personal favorite); Waiting for Us; Gone Away; a song he did for the Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha OST, ‘Here Always’; the entire video he did with Lee Mujin; he’s also done multiple covers on their Youtube channel, most recently a cover of ‘Ghost’ by Justin Bieber, I highly recommend all of them! (My 2nd personal favorite after ‘Love Poem’ is definitely ‘Congratulations’, a Day6 cover that he did with Han!)

*Kind of a disclaimer: Some might notice there’s not a ton of strictly Stray Kids songs recommended up there. That wasn’t intentional. I was mostly just trying to go for songs that really showcase his vocals, that I personally love. He definitely shines in the group, for sure, but, like a lot of the members, he rarely gets more than a few lines in each song. Since he has so many covers/others songs out there, I figured those would be a better choice to show off how great his voice is)

I’m not necessarily going to recommend any rap, because he barely does it (one or two songs, I think, at best. And for fun, outside of official performances) or dance, because while I do think he’s a skilled dancer, it’s not his strongest area. However, I do have some fancams of his on his playlist, if you want to check his dancing out!

Many of the members consider Seungmin to be the funniest member in the group and it’s understandable why that is. He has a lot of underrated funny moments and many fans consider him to be part of ‘savageracha’, which is just the three more savage members of Stray Kids: Lee Know, Seungmin, and I.N. I honestly thought he was like, the quiet, shy one when I first started getting into them, but he’s mostly just chill and seems to not take life too seriously, while also be a very hard worker and very professional at what he does.

Random fun fact: He has this little thing he does where he’ll poke out the eyes on any stuffed animal in his vicinity, or possibly even his members. He’s always ready to fight somebody, and it’s hilarious.

Something I don’t think gets talked about enough is that Seungmin has a really big heart, despite coming pretty chill most of the time. He clearly loves the other members in his own way, and has been very open about how much the fans mean to him (as have the other members, honestly). (Also, if you watch the 2 Kids Room series, multiple members mention how Seungmin was there for them, knowing just how to act to comfort them in someway or help them. Changbin admits that Seungmin helps him get his head on straight, both Chan and Hyunjin mention something along these lines, he’s a source of comfort for many of the members, and I love that.)

Seungmin currently has braces, but he tends to cover up his smile a lot (I read somewhere, and I’m not sure how true this is, that he covers it up more now because people were saying his smile was ugly. I really hope that’s not true, because he has the most beautiful smile!)

Both the other members and fans alike constantly refer to Seungmin as a puppy, because of how excited and playful he can be and how adorable he is. It’s why his SKZOO animal is a puppy named PuppyM!

I think that’s all the main points of Seungmin. I definitely think that him and I.N. tend to be a bit underrated among some fans (not all, a lot of the fans I follow on social media tend to love all the members). But they’re both great in their own ways. I’ll talk about I.N. in my next post!

How many stories did you publish?

51 works - which is a lot more than I thought i'd ever write in one year.

What is your total word count for this year?

146k in total, which is mind-blowing. It does however exclude all the unfinished and unpublished works because I only started using ohwrite like a month ago because Rarsa used it.

What fandoms did you write this year?

For Bridgerton (3 works) I wrote Daphne/Simon. For fate: the winx saga (1 work) I finally let my childhood ship come true and wrote Bloom/Riven (even though I never finished that one). One stray piece for Men's football (Barcelona) got published as a gift for a friend. Another random piece got written for the Wings series by Aprilynne Pike.

I wrote 38 works for Formula 1 with a huge list of ships, but mostly tagged were: 4433, maxiel, maxierre and carlando. Also I managed to post 8 works for Genshin Impact, which featured a multitude of ships but mostly kazulumi!

Did you write more, less or roughly around what you expected you would?

A lot more - it's roughly 75% of the words I ever published on ao3 and I've been on there since 2017. Especially since I wrote nothing in 2020.

Which story did you write in 2021 are you most proud of?

It's hard to say, I love what covered in you with Zhalia brought me, as it resulted in much more than just a story. No one there to shame me for my youth was such an amazing way to experiment with writing mature stuff and I love how much confidence it gave me. I just hate the way I miss you (and the way it hits me at night) was a personal favorite because it felt like a banger to end the year with and it was so much fun to experiment with the just-texting-and-nothing-more way of writing.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Oh yeah, I did! I barely wrote smut before this year, only here and there, it was something I struggled a lot with which is strange to look back at. It took a pretty wild turn for the Genshin Impact works in which I did a lot of dead dove: do not eat content.

Also, maybe strange to others but for me writing a fic with Zhalia was pretty risky - I've never written with anyone before and I had no idea how it would go but it ended up going so well! So glad I took that risk.

Do you have any fanfiction goals for 2022?

I actually want to do a lot more post race pack fics for formula 1! It kind of got forgotten during the shitshow of the 2021 season but I do like the whole idea of it so I might try it again for the 2022 season.

Next to that I signed up for some things and I really hope I can make a masterpiece out of that one!

What is your most under-appreciated story?

I would say 'Cause you still feel like home (and I can't let you go) - if you'd ask me I think I scared too many people away with the summary of it. It doesn't feel like the right representation and I've considered redoing the summary, but it wouldn't change things whoops

Biggest fanfiction related disappointment of 2021?

The fact that I still haven't finished plotting and writing two shots of sugar please . Also the fact that I didn't write more in general for the sweet as sugar series.

Biggest fanfiction related surprise of 2021?

The fact that I had no writer's block all year long? I normally get them a lot and for long periods but this year I know how to channel any emotion into productivity. My 2021 motto lowkey became "if you're in a mood at least make sure it's a productive one"

Biggest fanfiction fans of 2021?

I think it's hard to name people because I think everyone I interacted with impacted the way I wrote or saw my fanfiction in a different way.

I can't thank everyone from the genshin impact on here because everyone was from twitter and I deleted my account there but I got to thank them for letting me explore my creative freedom!

@thetwelfthcrow was amazing to me, made the writing progress so much fun, starting from covered in you but not ending after that. managed to make a lot of good memories with them while writing. @shippingaddictbaby because we started with just talking about hair and now we're tackling each other to sprint together and come through with the funniest stuff at the strangest time. @coconutshygame was such a sweetheart during the Instagram dm fics phase and the support i received was heartwarming and made the writing progress so much fun. Don't want to forget how much i appreciate @fcb-mv33, @cinderhellas and @shelsgovroomvroom.

Every one of you made writing so much more fun, so much more than just words on paper, a whole experience and i feel like i grew so much during this year which is so much fun <3

Bangchan:

Dates with Chan had been sparse lately. It wasn’t his fault. They were doing promotions for a comeback and Chan had absolutely zero free time and any time he did have, despite his protests, you wanted him to spend resting. “Y/n, please! I wanna see you!” Chan whined over the phone. 

You sighed and looked at the time. The boys were still at the company, but would most likely be at the dorms in an hour or two. “Okay how about this. I’ll come over to the dorms and cook dinner for you and the boys tonight. That way you guys can have dinner as soon as you get home.” There was silence on the phone. “Chan? Chris? You there, love?” 

“Sorry, you just made my heart explode.”  

You laughed and hung up the phone. After a short car ride, you were inside the dorm and cooking a nice dinner for your incredible boyfriend and his band members. The steam from the cooking vegetables were starting to make you sweat a little. Grabbing a clip from your bag you pulled your hair out of your face and continued making the boys a good meal.

“Y/NNNNNNNNN!” Several boys screamed as the dorm door burst open. You smiled and finished putting food on plates. Felix attacked you with a hug and Hyunjin and Jisung followed soon after. “This looks really good, Y/n,” Felix said when everyone was seated at the table, Chan beside you. “I’m glad to have a break from cooking for these weirdos.” 

Soon Chan was sending all the boys off to bed with full bellies and food comas. “I’ve missed you so much,” He said taking your hands and sitting on the arm of the couch. “You have no idea how much I’ve wanted to see you and talk to you, to hold you, and... other things,” Chan said blushing. 

“What kind of other things?” 

Chan looked down and shrugged, his dimples making a shy appearance. You watched him play with your fingers, subconsciously pulling you closer to him. It didn’t take a psychic to know what was on his mind. With a smile, you leaned down and pressed your lips against his. He smiled into the kiss, his thumb rubbing over your skin. When you pulled away Chan had the dopiest grin across his face. He fell back onto the couch, staring up at the ceiling in a trance making you laugh.

“That was so awesome.” 

Minho:

Minho sat next to you on the couch. He wasn’t necessarily close to you, but he wasn’t on the farthest side of the sofa either. The boys had been hinting that maybe your feelings for Minho were reciprocated. You had been reading into everything lately and you still came up with nothing. Minho was impossible.

The focus of the boy next to you was heavily trained on his phone. Some random game was enticing his attention away from you. Giving up, you crossed your arms and stared at the TV. 

After letting out many precisely planned sighs hoping to grab Minho’s attention and failing you conceded and started flipping channels. Settling for a drama you watched the soap opera romance that played out on the screen. An hour passed and your stomach was beginning to growl. 

“I’m gonna order a pizza.” You said pulling out your phone. Minho hummed in response. rolling your eyes you walked into the kitchen to grab a soda for you and the thick headed boy in your living room. The doorbell rang and you looked to the couch. Minho showed no sign of getting up still zoned in on his phone. “Don’t worry I’ll get it.” Your feet trudged over the door and you gave the pizza guy a half assed smile. 

“Hi! That will be $22.46.” The boy smiled when you handed him the money as well as a nice tip. “Thanks, have a good night!” 

You closed the door and plopped back onto the couch setting the pizza on the coffee table. A hand grabbed your wrist before you could open the hot cardboard box. Minho smashed his lips on yours, hand coming to the back of your neck. He pushed you onto the couch, hovering on top of you. Caught up in the moment your hands tangled in his hair enticing Minho to deepen the kiss.  

As quickly as he had come onto you, he retreated, moving back to his previous spot on the couch and reaching for the pizza. You lay on the couch, completely confused. “What the hell was that?” Minho shrugged acting as if nothing had happened.

“What?” He picked up a slice and took a bite out of it. “I’m not allowed to kiss my girlfriend?”

You shook your head in disbelief. What? “Girlfr- What? When did this happen?” Again he shrugged like this was common knowledge you were the dumbest person on the planet, and you were starting to feel that way. He thought you were dating already?

“Y/n, you’ve cat-sitted for me at least twenty times. In my book, we are in a committed relationship after ten.” He handed you a slice of pizza and turned back to the TV. You watched as he threw an arm around your shoulders and pulled you into his side. “Congrats on being my girlfriend, dummy.”

Changbin:

“Seo Lewis Changbin!”

“Oh no.” Your best friend mumbled. He took off his headphones and turned to see you marching through the door of his studio. The pissed off expression on your face said everything and also nothing. Changbin only had a matter of seconds to recount everything he had done in the last twenty-four hours and apologize or face the consequences. “Hi, gorgeous, how’s your day?” 

You simply rose an eyebrow and he quickly shut up. “Changbin, do you have something to tell me?” You could see the gears turning in his brain. The gears screaming ‘what did I do wrong this time’. 

It was honestly a little fun to watch him squirm. You crossed your arms and ignored the giggles coming from the other side of the studio door. You knew Felix and Seungmin had followed you down the hall. They were the ones who told you about Changbin in the first place. “I’m sorry that I used your sweatshirt to clean up Minho’s cat piss. But you can have my hoodie.”

“YOU WHAT?”

He screamed as my hands attacked any unshielded spot on his body. “Stop! STOP! I BRUISE EASILY!” You huffed and stepped away. Changbin rubbed his bicep as if you had actually hurt him. “I’m sorry okay!” He scorched farther away from you. Though you had gotten him to confess it wasn’t the secret you were looking for. 

“While I am pissed about that, and you will be getting me a new hoodie, that isn’t what I was talking about.” Changbin watched with wary eyes as you inched forward and leaned on the arms of his office chair. “I had a little conversation with Seungmin and Felix earlier.” Changbin visibly gulped.

“Oh no.”

“Oh yes.”

“They sold me out?”

“They did indeed.” Changbin’s ears turned a dark shade of red. How you had never noticed your effect on your best friend before you would never know. Possibly because you were too focused on your own infatuation. Leaning forward, you pressed your lips to his, capturing them in a sweet kiss. Tilting your head you let your teeth drag slowly across Changbin’s bottom lip. 

“Was that like a friend kiss or-?” Changbin asked when you pulled away. You rolled your eyes and kissed him again before he could ask another stupid question.

Hyunjin:

Hyunjin was walking you home after a late night boba date. His hand was intertwined with yours as you walked in the warm spring air. “When is your next free day?” You asked swinging your hands as you strolled down the dimly lit streets. You felt safe with your boyfriend next to you.

He hummed, head lifting to the sky in thought. “I think...two weeks from now?” You sighed and he brought your hand up to his lips, kissing your knuckles. “I know, baby.” It was hard not seeing Hyunjin. He himself was having withdrawal issues from your company and the boys were starting to notice. His dating ban wasn’t up for another three months, so the two of you had to sneak around. 

“What about nights?” He shooked his head ‘no’ and stopped under a street lamp. Leaning you back against the steel pole, you looked up at Hyunjin. “What about before morning meetings?” Hyunjin laughed, the sound making you smile.

He ran a hand through his blonde hair and dragged his touch down your arm. “Y/n, you and I both know neither of us are going to get up at four thirty in the morning.” You laughed and pulled Hyunjin closer to you, wrapping your arms around his neck.

Hyunjin gave you a soft smile and looked down at you. He made your heart pound in your chest. “I don’t know how I’m going to make it two weeks without you, Jinnie.” He sighed, nuzzling into your neck. 

“Believe me, if you can’t then I definitely won’t.” You ran a hand through his soft hair making him sigh in content. Eventually, he pulled away and stared at you with longing. His eyes looked from your eyes to your mouth in question. After seeing the smallest nod he leaned in pressing his lips against yours. 

You smiled into the kiss, threading your fingers through Hyunjin’s hair. He pulled away and rested his forehead against yours. “What if I just ran away with you right now?” 

“Jisung would absolutely murder you. You’re supposed to record tomorrow.” You said a little breathless, wanting his lips on yours again. 

“True. Very true.” He came back, another fiery kiss being shared between you. His tongue swiped across your bottom lip before slipping into your mouth. The two of you savored your last moments together under the dim golden glow of the street lamp.

Jisung:

“Hey, handsome,” You answered your ringing phone. 

Jisung’s tired voice came through the call. “Y/n, baby, can you come over to the dorm?” You checked your watch and saw it was almost 2:30 in the afternoon. Usually, he was at the studio until three in the morning. 

“Sure. I’ll be there in like ten minutes.” Slipping on a big hoodie and your shoes you grabbed your wallet and car keys and drove over to the dorms. When you got there most of the boys were in the kitchen or the common room. “Hi guys! Where’s Jisung?”

Chan waved and gave you a hug. “Oh- he’s in his room. Top bunk.” The boys waved as you walked by and you knocked quietly on the last door. A muffled voice belonging to your boyfriend told you to come in. You saw a single sweatpant covered leg hanging off one of the top bunks. Jisung’s head peeked over the side and he gave you a smile.

“Hi!” He said sleepily. Your sock feet padded over to the bed and you looked at him from over the side. “You wanna take a nap with me?” There was no helping the laugh that escaped. 

“You called me just to take a nap with you?” He nodded, his eyes already droopy. It looked like he was waiting to fall asleep until you arrived. With a sigh, you began climbing up the ladder and Jisung lifted up the covers giving you a place to lay on his chest. “This is a tiny bed.” 

“Shhhh. It’s nap time baby.” 

Eventually, the both of you fell asleep. It was easy to relax in Jisung’s arms. He radiated warmth with his arms and legs wrapped around you. Soon your eyes blinked open only to find a dark room. You reached over Jisung to grab his phone. You looked to see it was nearing 11 o’clock at night. “What’s wrong, babe?” Jisung mumbled feeling you move. You told him the time and he laughed. “There’s no point in you leaving, so why don’t you just spend the night?” He whispered.

He smiled feeling you nod and he started running his long fingers through your hair. In the low light, you could only barely make up the features of Jisung’s face. You were only slightly surprised to feel Jisung’s lips on yours. The kiss was slow and sleepy, but sweet none the less. Your hands already around his stomach slipped under his shirt., feeling his warm skin. 

Sleepy kisses were exchanged, Jisung’s long fingers playing with your hair and holding you close in the dark. He pulled you on top of him, leaving no space between you. After a while, the both of you fell back asleep and didn’t wake until morning

Felix:

Felix got a running start before launching himself off the cliff and into the water. You watched from the shore of the little alcove the two of you had found. You cheered seeing your boyfriend resurface in the center of the clear watering hole. “You gonna try?” He called, treading water. You shook your head, and he rolled his eyes. “Come on, there’s a smaller ledge, closer to the water.” 

You looked to the rock face Felix had climbed moments earlier. The colors of green and blue were vibrant around you, making your own little paradise. “Fine.” Felix smiled, seeing you shed your coverup and began swimming back to the shore. He took your hand and led you to a smaller ledge half as high as the one he had previously jumped off of. The waterfall roared next to you and Felix laced his fingers with yours.

“Ready?” You nodded, a nervous smile on the corner of your mouth. You were comforted seeing Felix’s grin. “3, 2,..1!” The two of you leaped from the ledge and into the cool clear water, screams escaping as you fell. Felix held onto your hand tightly as the two of you sank beneath the water’s surface. “Wasn’t that fun?” He exclaimed as the two of you swam above the surface. 

“Yeah, okay. That was fun.”

Felix smiled as the two of you treaded water. “You wanna do something else fun?” Before you could answer Felix started swimming to the waterfall. Trusting him, you followed. He gently took your hand, lifting you up on the slippery rocks. He led the two of you carefully behind heavy curtain of water into a tiny cave. The roaring of the falls echoed in the small space, obstructing your view of your secret alcove. 

“Wow!” You said, reaching your hand under the water. Felix grinned, wet hair falling in front of his eyes. Stepping carefully, he made his way over to you wrapping his arms around your waist. 

“Can I kiss you?” 

Your eyes widened at his bluntness, but you nodded palms resting against his bare chest. Hesitantly, Felix leaned down and pressed his lips against yours. The kiss was slow at first, then picked up as Felix grew more confident. His lips danced against yours, one of his hands coming to tangle in your hair. The two of you parted, breathe heavy and lovestruck grins plastered on your faces.

Felix pulled away and started to do a little dance making you laugh. “What the hell are you doing?” He just continued to do his weird little dance as you watched and laughed at your dorky boyfriend behind the waterfall.

Seungmin:

Two weeks after Seungmin and you started dating, he and the rest of the boys left for a US tour.  Thankfully his dating ban had been lifted early after an analysis by the company, so Seungmin was free to spend time with you anytime he wanted as long as it didn’t interfere with his schedules. 

Your fingers tapped against your steering wheel. The red light turned green and you drove the rest of the way to the airport. Chan called you early this morning, about two hours ago, and told you their flight was getting in at five-thirty in the morning. You yawned, pulling into Seoul International Airport. Seungmin had called you the night before and told you not to bother meeting him since they would be arriving so early in the morning. But, you were determined.

After asking an attendant she directed you the flight gate the boys would be coming from. The sign you had made in the last hour, was bumping up against your legs as you ran through the cold airport. Seungmin’s sweatshirt was blocking the cold air from hitting your skin as you looked for gate A6. 

A few other people were waiting as you approached the gate, but you pushed your way to the front. Your eyes frantically searched the sea of people as passengers came off the plane. Spotting Chan’s curly frizzy hair you held up your sign with a huge grin on your face. 

Chan spotted you first and then laughed at your sign. He called back into the group of boys behind him, who all turned to look at you. Before you knew it, your boyfriend was pushing himself to the front of the group and he laughed when he saw your sign, falling to the ground and covering his face. 

‘Welcome Home Hot Stuff’ the sign read with a funny meme of Seungmin that Felix had sent you a couple days ago glue on the poster board. Not wanting to be apart from you anymore Seungmin ran over and wrapped you up in his arms. “Y/n, I have missed you so much. Why are you here? It’s 5:30! Is this my sweatshirt? I can’t believe you’re here! Honey, I’ve missed you so much-”

You smashed your lips against his cutting off his ramblings. After getting over the shock, Seungmin kissed you back, dropping everything in his hands. He cupped your face, thumbs brushing over your cheeks. Your head was spinning in the best way possible. “Welcome home, Minnie.” You whispered against his lips, making him smile. 

“Let’s go get breakfast.” He said with a smile and took the sign from you, looking at your craft project. 

Jeongin:

Jeongin and you lay on the floor of your dorm room a board game between the two of you. Rain pelted against your window, thunder rolling outside. Jeongin moved his game piece six spaces before looking up at you with a smile. You sat with a mug of warm tea in your hands and Jeongin’s hoodie swallowing you in warmth. 

“You are too cute,” Jeongin mumbled, leaning his cheek into his palm. 

Attempting to hide your blush, you brought the steaming cup up to your mouth and took a sip. “Jeongin, really you don’t have to stay here. I’m no scared of the storm.” He shrugged and rolled the dice for you, moving it four spaces. You got up, the sweatshirt falling over your shorts. The mug clunked against the wood as you set it on your desk. 

Jeongin watched you walk over and pulled you down into his lap. “What if I’m the one scared of the storm?” He questioned, pushing a piece of hair away from your face. Rolling your eyes you giggled and kissed his cheek. “Okay, you’re right. I’m not scared of the storm.” 

“Innie, you’re welcome to stay as long as you want. My roommate is staying at her boyfriend’s.” 

Jeongin smiled, placing a loving kiss on the side of your neck. He reached over and rolled the dice as lightning flashed outside. The cold air of the dorm made you snuggled deeper into the warm fabric of Jeongin’s hoodie. Sensing movement in his lap he wrapped a protective arm around you as he moved his game piece with his other hand. 

“I think I’m going to win in the next two moves.” You said, causing your boyfriend to turn his head. He looked at you with raised brows and laughed.

“Oh really?” 

You nodded and moved your piece to the final block on the board. “Yep. I win.” Jeongin laughed and looked into your eyes. His knuckles brushed over your cheek his breath ghosting over your lips. You inched forward, desperately wanting to close the small gap between you. A smirk tilted on the corner of Jeongin’s mouth, seeing your impatience. 

Softly, gently, his lips pressed against yours. His lips tasted like coffee, and he smelled like the rain that was falling outside. You dragged your lips against his savoring every moment with him. As you pulled away Jeongin chases after your lips, making you giggle. 

Your eyes looked to the window and Jeongin trailed his lips tenderly down your jaw, before resting his chin on your shoulder. “You stand corrected.” He whispered, kissing your lips again. “I win.”

For the character ask thing: Peter Parker

1. Favourite thing about them

It’s 3am and I am too tired to pour out my soul but probably Peter’s resilience. “No matter how many times I get beaten down, I always, always, get back up”. It’s a prevalent theme in every piece of Spider-Man media, right up there with the themes of responsibility. He’s an inspiration in every sense of the word and he has been one to me ever since I was a kid. He means more to me than I can put into words, however cheesy that sounds.

2. Least favourite thing about them

Not about Peter specifically but the Spider-Man FansTM discourse about what makes Spider-Man good, which one is better, and which ones suck all give me a headache. I just stay clear and consume my own content in my little corner. Love the character but the Spider-Man fandom can be a bit much.

3. Favourite line

Peter B Parker’s “That’s all it is Miles, a leap of faith” is peak cinema.

Lexi the new au sounds magnificent please tell me more - hopeless

i haven’t thought out TOO much bc this is a just a random fun au, but i should preface a few things about darkest minds: 

kids were rounded up in schools and such by the government when their powers surfaced, to the point where parents reported their own children to be picked up

those kids got taken to “rehabilitation camps” 

reds (pyrokinesis) and oranges (mind manipulation) are the most dangerous powers and those kids were usually taken to different ‘camps’ (presumably killed) 

there’s two main refuges for kids with powers: the Children’s League, a complex where the kids basically go on rescue missions, and East River, an isolated camp for them to be safe and distanced from the rest of the country (aka the government and bounty hunters)

okay now that that’s out of the way :) 

so Virgil escapes from his rehabilitation camp (with the help of some undercover Children’s League people), right, and as an orange who probably should have been killed off years ago, that’s kind of miraculous 

the only issue is that he has no idea where to go. 

the CL gave him vague directions - a part of town that’s largely uninhabited and functions as a kind of meeting place for stray kids to find each other - but there’s the risk of bounty hunters, and officers, and everyday citizens eager to report a runaway for the promise of a reward

luckily enough, though, he runs into a little pack before any of those get in his way! Patton and Logan (both blues, aka telekinesis) and Remus (a green, basically smarts and intuition) run into him, literally, outside of an old gas station, where they’d been refilling on supplies for their search for East River. 

They’re suspicious of him, but eventually they agree that they would want help if they were in his position, so they welcome him into the group. Virgil quickly sees that Remus seems the self-appointed leader, but Logan does most of the strategy and planning, and Patton is a sort of moral support/medic for the group  

He also finds out that they all came from the same camp and escaped together, three of the very few kids who managed to make it out when the kids tried a mass escape. (Virgil finds this out from Remus one night when the other two are asleep, because Patton and Logan refuse to talk about it.) 

((Remus also mentions, very briefly, almost offhandedly, having had a brother. Virgil asks about had, and Remus simply says ‘He was a red.’ and moves on. Virgil doesn’t ask any more questions.)) 

So the group fills Virgil in on the East River situation - it’s a refuge camp, they tell him, and they know the general location, but the entire atmosphere around it is incredibly cryptic (to keep it hidden from the government), so finding it is a bit of an issue 

and there ARE issues - bounty hunters, other stray kids who are very territorial of their hideouts, trauma, you know the deal - but eventually woohoo! they figure out where East River is, thanks to an old radio with a noticeably odd channel of static and beeping and Logan’s knowledge of morse code!! 

so boom, they show up at East River, and find that it’s almost like a summer camp of sorts - there’s kids of every color level, functioning together like a little society, and the crew is near tears and collapsing because they’re finally safe :’) 

anywho they arrive and meet three key people:

first is Marius, the founder and leader of the camp, an orange just like Virgil (there aren’t many left, so Virgil hasn’t met another orange since he first went to his rehabilitation camp five years ago). He gives them some new clothes, a cabin assignment, and a rundown of the camp rules/resources, and tells V if he ever needs someone to talk to or practice with, he’s there

second is Marius’ right-hand man of sorts, Janus, a yellow (electricity) with cool gloves and a remarkable amount of snark. (He seems a little untrustworthy, but Patton and Remus think he’s cool, so there’s that.) 

and third, a day after they arrive, while they’re in the middle of discussing which government official they could probably take in a fight over lunch, they hear a very disbelieving “...Remus?” from behind them, barely above a whisper. 

They turn around to find a boy who looks... well, like Remus, though distinctly more well-kempt and missing the white streak Remus bleached in his hair in the gas station bathroom a month ago. on the boy’s black shirt, the one they all have, each stamped with the camp’s symbol in their own color, is a bright red psi. 

he and Remus stare at each other for a long minute - Remus blinks, like he’s making sure he’s not imagining anything, and after a dragging moment of silence where Virgil and Logan and Patton are literally holding their breath, he starts laughing. 

He laughs, and scrambles to get out of the picnic table they’re at, tripping over himself, and rushes at the boy, wrapping him in a hug that nearly knocks him off his feet as Remus manages a “I thought you were dead!” through his laughter - Patton gives a little oh from Virgil’s side, and Virgil finally connects the dots that this is, in fact, The Brother™ Remus refused to talk about

anyway that’s how they meet Roman :) 

so basically everything is good and well at the camp - they’re not worried about the gov, you know, killing them, everyone’s back together and forming a good group of friends (even though Logan and Janus bicker like an old married couple and Virgil still isn’t sure they should even trust Jan), and Virgil’s met not one but TWO people who were set to be killed by the government years ago so there’s bonding there (he feels leagues more comfortable around Roman than he does Marius, but everyone else loves Marius, and he’s the only other orange, so Virgil sticks it out) 

but Virgil quickly starts to realize Marius isn’t really telling the whole truth about who he is, and the way he runs the camp is... questionable at best. 

and that is a horrible place to stop but i have class in like two minutes so i’ll be back with yall soon about this askjfskfjl
